Messiah Celebration!
Come Join Us in a Concert Celebrating the Birth of the Savior!
Advent and Christmas has served as inspiration for much sacred music. We will blend traditional carols with new ones (Come Lord Jesus and the premier of Noche Santa) as we herald the coming of our Savior. The first half of our program reflects: the Annunciation, Journey to Bethlehem and Birth of the Savior.
The ‘Messiah’ by George Frederic Handel holds a very special place both in Western Music and as a sacred Oratorio. Perhaps miraculously, Handel completed the piece in only 24 days. The first performance was made to raise money to free men from debtor’s prison. The premier secured the release of 142 prisoners. At the end of his manuscript Handel wrote the words: “Soli Deo Gloria” (To God alone be the glory). Our performance also caries this intention |
